Manual of cultivation kit
(0) At the time of receiving the kit, you must act immediately. You can only keep it for a few days. If you really need to wait, it should be stored in the refrigerator, never in the freezer.
(1)
Open the package carefully, do not use a knife because it could cut the plastic bag. Do not touch the white air filter on the side of the bag to prevent contamination.
(2)
Remove the tape from the container, remove the lid and place the cultivation kit in the plastic bag so the open end is up.
(3)
Spray the kit until the soil at the top is slightly moist. Do not pour water directly into the kit this time. Note: Spray water only when in the kit there has not been any growth yet.
(4)
Close the plastic bag by folding the top two inches and use two clips to keep it closed.
(5)
Place the kit with the plastic bag in a place away from direct light rays, but not in the dark. Near a radiator will be a good place if you do not live in a sub-tropical area.
(6)
The optimum temperature is between 20 and 23 degrees centigrade, 68 and 74 degrees Fahrenheit, but is no problem if the temperature is not stable all the time, the kit is not damaged if the night temperature is lower. Do not place the kit too near a radiator, temperatures exceeding 35 degrees (95 degrees F) are harmful. Natural air temperatures higher in the tropics are no problem.
(7)
Turn the kit every day or two, so that the other side of the box is on the side of the radiator. This will make the fruiting more gradual.
(8)
After a few days you will see white mycelium spreads through the upper part of the earth where mushrooms grow. Do not open the bag until the first mushrooms have a height of 1,5 cm. As soon as you reach that point, just open the bag and leave it open for an hour and half, to be cool.
(9)
After a few days, the mushrooms will appear. Cut the first fruiting just before the hats of the biggest ones open completely. Cut also the smallest. It is best not to interfere too much in the activity of the kit: wait until it has grown another complete fruiting before re-cutting. Leave those that are shorter than 1.5 cm. When you start to examine every day you will realize that they grow very quickly. You must remember that mushrooms should be collected squirming, no uprooting or cutting. It is better for the earth. If the foot of the mushroom turns brown it is because there is too much moisture in the bag, so it should be left open for 1.5 - 2 hours to dry a little. As the soil gets dry in some places and does not touch the container, pour some water on the kit. Slightly tighten the container on one side to create an opening to pour water on the bottom of the kit. Do not pour water on the soil of the kit.
(10)
If circumstances are optimal, you can get 175 - 350 grams of fresh mushrooms (17 - 35 grams dry) from a single kit in three or more fruitings.
(11)
Last one to three weeks before you can pick the first fruiting, one more week for the second and the third possibly. Must not be abandoned too quickly, it sometimes happens that after one month more mushrooms are still growing. When the mycelium begins to be green or purple (a harmful fungal infection), you should throw the bag away without re-opening.
